| Biography: | Joshua M. Katz is an attorney in the Firm’s real estate and creditors’ rights group where he concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate, creditors’ rights, bankruptcy and commercial litigation. His practice primarily involves assisting creditors in commercial asset acquisitions, including real and personal property foreclosures, workouts and restructurings of distressed loans. He also represents litigants in consumer finance litigation, contract and real estate disputes and other business litigation.
Mr. Katz has represented several of the largest institutional lenders in the United States in connection with the negotiation, documentation and financing of CMBS mortgage originations. Mr. Katz has broad-based experience in the business and legal aspects of real estate finance, particularly with single tenant and cash management-related transactions.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Katz practiced capital markets lending and real estate with Nelson, Mullins, Riley & Scarborough, LLP and litigation with McKenna, Long & Aldridge, LLP. He also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Paul W. Bonapfel, United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and has represented debtors, creditors and trustees in all phases of bankruptcy and insolvency litigation.
Mr. Katz earned his Juris Doctor in 2003 from Emory University School of Law. While in law school, he served as associate editor of the Emory Law Journal. Mr. Katz earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology from Emory University in 1998. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia.
